Enabling 3D Gaming on Mobile Phones
The Imageon™ 2300 is AMD's latest generation of
media co-processor designed to enable manufacturers of
mobile telephones to deliver an exciting 3D multimedia
experience to end users. And for the carriers utilizing
the new higher bandwidth 2.5 and 3G networks, the Imageon
processors provide features such as 3D gaming, Video/Image
capture (MMS), and MPEG 4 playback.
At the forefront of technological innovation for this
market, the Imageon™ 2300 offers the first hardware
3D graphics implementation in the handheld space, providing
exceptional visual quality and extensive display features.
It also represents the first OpenGL® ES 1.0 compliant
device on the handheld market.
Imageon 2300 integrates an advanced 2D and 3D graphics
engine, MPEG-4 video decoder, JPEG encoding/decoding, and
a 2 Mega pixel camera sub-system processing engine. With
support for up to 2MB of ultra low-power SDRAM, it enables
mobile phones to deliver powerful 3D gaming, smooth high-resolution
video playback, and excellent digital still camera functionality
for a truly involving customer experience.
Low Cost, Low Power Systems
The highly optimized Imageon™ architecture enable
low cost, low power system designs by lowering CPU utilization
thereby extending battery life thus eliminating the need
for high powered CPU's and/or larger batteries.
Readily Available Content on Imageon
AMD has extensive Developer Relations (ISV Partners)
enabling readily available content (3D games, Imaging and
Video
applications) on Imageon thereby making Imageon an attractive
choice not only for the OEM's but also for the Carriers
of mobile services.
